Footprint Fit and Mating Half
Because the connector accepts bottom or top entry, the same part can serve as a mezzanine receptacle (bottom entry) or a wire-to-board interface (top entry) with the appropriate header orientation — a useful flexibility when the board stack-up isn't finalised.
