0.100" pitch — the IDC standard footprint
The 5499206-6: No pitch adapter needed — the header mates directly with a 26-way IDC socket, and the square 0.025" pins wipe the socket's bifurcated contacts on insertion. 26 positions loaded all — every pin is present; there is no optional-population variant. The 2-row layout gives a 13-per-side signal map that matches the standard 26-conductor ribbon cable.
1 A per contact — signal duty, not power
Rated 1 A at 250 VAC. This is a signal-level current ceiling — the 30 µinch gold mating face keeps contact resistance stable at low currents, but the 1 A limit means this header is for logic, data, or low-power sensor lines, not motor or heater circuits. Compare with the ATX-series 4-1775099-7: that header carries 9 A per contact on a 4.20mm pitch with tin plating. The 5499206-6's 2.54mm pitch and gold plating trade current capacity for density and corrosion resistance in repeated-mate applications.
Latch lock and shrouding — vibration-resistant mate
The long eject hooks lock the mated IDC socket in place and provide a levered extraction. In equipment that sees shock or where the cable is routed near moving parts, this latch prevents the socket from backing off — a common failure mode with plain friction-lock headers. The 4-wall shroud guides the socket onto the pins and protects the contacts from accidental bridging during handling. The keying slot prevents reverse mating — a mis-oriented IDC socket cannot be fully seated. Mounting flanges provide a secondary mechanical anchor to the PCB.
