What this AMP-Latch header does in the assembly
The 5499345-4: This is a 20-position, dual-row, shrouded header from TE's AMP-Latch series, designed for board-to-cable/wire interconnect. The right-angle orientation routes the mating cable parallel to the board, which saves z-height in enclosures where the connector sits near the board edge. The four-wall shroud protects the male pins during handling and guides the mating receptacle into alignment. Short latch lock/eject hooks on both ends provide positive retention — the latch clicks audibly when mated, and the eject hooks let you unmate without prying. A keying slot and mounting flange are built into the housing, so you can key the pair to prevent mis-mating and bolt the header down for vibration resistance.
Current, plating, and temperature range
The 30 µinch gold over nickel on the mating face supports 500+ mating cycles minimum; in a field-service application where the connector is cycled quarterly, that is over a century of service life at the contact interface. The contact finish on the solder post is 100 µinch tin — this wets well in wave or hand solder and matches the common HASL board finish. Contact material is brass, square pin shape, with a 0.240-inch mating length and a 0.110-inch post length. The post length is short enough for a standard 1.6 mm board; if your board is thicker than 1.6 mm, check the post protrusion through the hole.
