What This SIMM Connector Does
This is a 72-position SIMM (Single In-line Memory Module) connector from the TE Micro-Edge series, designed to accept RAM modules. The through-hole mounting style with normal, top mounting feature suits standard motherboard layouts where the SIMM socket sits parallel to the board.
Board Fit and Retention Details
The connector accepts a memory module card thickness of 0.047" to 0.054" (1.19mm to 1.37mm) — standard for most 72-pin SIMM modules. Board guides on the socket align the module during insertion, and the integrated latches lock it in place, preventing the module from backing out under vibration. Compliant with MO-116, the industry-standard outline for 72-pin SIMM connectors, ensuring mechanical interchangeability with standard SIMM modules.
