It aligns with the standard SL-156 header pin spacing, so the board-side layout is fixed once the header is placed. The wider pitch compared to 2.54 mm headers gives more room for routing traces between pins on lower-layer boards, and the larger cavity supports crimp terminals rated for higher current — typically 5-7 A per circuit depending on wire gauge and ambient temperature.
The female socket contacts must be ordered separately — the SL-156 series uses a standard crimp terminal (TE part numbers 640252-x or equivalent). The crimp termination allows field-serviceable wire attachment: strip the wire, crimp the terminal, insert it into the cavity until the locking lance seats, and pull-test to confirm retention.
