8-position MTA-156 header with friction lock
The 640445-8 is an 8-position, single-row pin header from the TE MTA-156 series. It mates with MTA-156 receptacle housings and crimp contacts for a wire-to-board interconnect. The 0.156" (3.96 mm) pitch sets the board footprint and the per-contact current ceiling; at the rated voltage of 600 VAC, the thermoplastic glass-filled housing (UL94 V-0) keeps the connector safe inside an enclosure.
What the tin plating means for field life
Tin is the standard for cost-sensitive, low-cycle applications — rated for tens of mates, not hundreds. In a general-purpose or industrial environment where the connector is mated during assembly and rarely touched again, tin plating is the right call. The square male pins wipe the receptacle contact on insertion, breaking through any surface oxide.
