MTA-100 IDC Receptacle, 4-Position, Closed End
It uses a 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch, single-row layout, and terminates 22 AWG wire by pressing the conductor into insulation-displacement slots — no stripping or crimping required. The closed-end design blocks the last cavity, preventing partial insertion and ensuring the wire stops at the correct depth.
Termination is IDC — the 22 AWG wire is pressed into the slot using a manual or pneumatic hand tool; the insulation is displaced by the contact tines, making gas-tight connection without solder. The receptacle mounts free-hanging (in-line) or at a right angle to the wire axis, depending on the harness routing.
Contact Finish and Duty
Tin-lead is a legacy plating — it provides good corrosion resistance and solderability but has a lower mating-cycle life compared to gold. For applications requiring frequent disconnect/reconnect cycles, a gold-plated variant of the MTA-100 series would be a better fit.
