Locking and shroud — vibration hold without over-engineering
Friction lock on the shroud keeps the mating housing from backing out under moderate vibration or cable tug — no secondary latch needed. The single-wall shroud protects the pins from one side; the opposite side is open for wire exit. In a harness that sees occasional movement, this is a reliable, low-cost retention method.
Contact finish and compliance — legacy tin-lead, not RoHS
This is a legacy finish — the connector is RoHS non-compliant. For existing designs that already qualify tin-lead, it is acceptable; for new builds requiring RoHS, select a tin-plated MTA-100 variant or a different series.
Mates with MTA-100 receptacle housings (e.g., 640441 series) that accept 22-26 AWG discrete wires with IDC or crimp terminals.
