What the 4.14mm pitch and board lock mean for your board
The 770743-1: This is a 10-position, dual-row header from TE's Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK series, with a 4.14mm pitch on both the row and position spacing. Without it, the solder joints take the full strain and can crack over repeated mate/unmate cycles. The shrouded 4-wall design protects the male pins from bending during handling and guides the mating receptacle into alignment — a half-turn loose on the locking ramp is a dropout, so the positive latch is your insurance against vibration loosening.
Mating half and termination checklist
This header mates with the Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK receptacle housing (sold separately). Termination is through-hole solder — the 0.175-inch post length gives enough stand-off for wave solder or hand-solder, and the tin-lead finish on the post wets well with standard solder alloys. The mating face uses the same tin-lead finish, rated for moderate mating cycles; if your application cycles the connector more than a few dozen times, consider the gold-plated sibling in the same series.
