At 4.00mm pitch, the board footprint is wide enough to route traces between pads without resorting to blind vias. The three-row layout packs 14 positions into a shorter board edge than a two-row equivalent at the same pitch — useful when the PCB real estate along the connector edge is limited. This configuration keeps the mated cable assembly flat against the board, saving z-height in shallow enclosures. The header is through-hole soldered, not press-fit, so the board assembly process is standard wave or hand solder.
Mating and Housing Compatibility — What Connects to This Header
The 4.00mm pitch and three-row layout are consistent across the AMPSEAL series, so the mating half must have the same pitch, row count, and position count — 14 positions in three rows. When mated, the sealable housing (with wire seals and a perimeter gasket) achieves IP67 — the header itself is not sealed, but the mated assembly is.
