Without them, the header could lift off the board when the cable is tugged.

Rated 600VAC — this covers line-voltage industrial and commercial equipment up to 480VAC systems. For a typical 18 AWG circuit in this series, expect around 7-10A per contact, but always confirm with the terminal datasheet. Tin-lead is a proven, solderable finish that wets well in wave solder, but it is not RoHS compliant — this part is marked RoHS non-compliant. Operating temperature range is -20°C to 85°C, which suits indoor industrial and commercial environments but not under-hood automotive or outdoor direct-sun applications.
