The 0.250" (6.35mm) row spacing gives enough room for larger-gauge crimp terminals, making this series a common choice for power distribution and motor leads inside industrial cabinets and automotive junction boxes.
The note on the line is clear — you order the 794535-1 shell and then source the male or female crimp terminals separately. If the BOM only lists this housing, the build stops when the wire team has nothing to load into the cavities. Match the terminal part number to the wire gauge and plating (tin vs gold) before the crimp press is set up.
This plug housing accepts either male or female contacts — the Universal MATE-N-LOK system uses the same cavities for both, keyed so the terminal can't go in wrong. If it backs out, it's scrap — so make sure the terminal fully seats and the lock tang engages. The dual-row layout with 0.250" (6.35mm) row spacing gives the crimp tool room to work without adjacent wires fouling the nest.
Compliance and Material
RoHS compliant — no lead, cadmium, or restricted phthalates in the black polyamide (nylon) housing. The black colour is the standard for this variant; the natural-colour sibling 1-1644055-3 uses the same cavity geometry if the harness spec calls for a different visual ID.
