0.300" Pitch Shrouded Header for Panel Wiring
The 796980-3 is a 3-position, single-level shrouded header from TE's Buchanan series, designed for wire-to-board connections in industrial control panels and terminal block applications. The shroud encloses the male pins on all four sides, protecting them from bending during mating and providing polarization to prevent mis-mating with the wrong receptacle. The vertical through-hole orientation keeps the header standing upright on the board, with a 0.138" (3.50mm) solder tail length for standard PCB thicknesses.
Current, Voltage, and Contact Finish
UL-rated at 15 A and 300 V, the 796980-3 handles power distribution for relay outputs, motor starters, and power supplies within a control cabinet. The copper alloy contacts provide good conductivity and mechanical spring properties. The 15 A rating is per circuit at the UL temperature rise limit; in practice, derate the current if all three positions are loaded simultaneously in a high-ambient enclosure above 85°C.
