The red insulation colour is a visual key for the Micro-MaTch series.
Board-fit and assembly details
Surface-mount termination with a pick-and-place feature — the header is supplied in Tape & Reel for automated assembly. The flat top surface and vacuum-pick area are designed for nozzle pickup without tilting. The rectangular male pins (0.64 mm square typical for 2.54 mm pitch) mate with standard Micro-MaTch receptacles. Contact finish on the solder tail is tin, which wets well with standard SAC305 solder profiles. The brass contact material provides adequate spring properties for the rated mating cycles.

The 1-292164-1 (CT series, 11 positions, 2.00 mm pitch, through-hole right-angle) is a single-row, lower-pitch header with a detent lock. The 8-338728-6 offers dual-row density and a latch lock, but the CT series runs at a tighter pitch and different mounting orientation. The 1-1871673-2 (1871673 series, 4 positions, 2.50 mm pitch, through-hole right-angle, board lock) is a much lower circuit count with a board-lock feature for vibration resistance. The 8-338728-6 has no board lock — the latch lock provides retention, but the board lock adds shear-force resistance for high-vibration environments.
