It uses a latch lock/eject hooks fastening system for a positive, vibration-resistant mate. Termination is crimp-style, with the housing designed for free-hanging (in-line) mounting — no PCB footprint required. This makes it a field-serviceable interconnect for harness assemblies where the connector is mated in the cable run, not on a board.
The 880124 is a plug housing that mates with a complementary receptacle from the same 8801 series. The latch lock/eject hooks provide audible and tactile confirmation of full engagement, which is critical in harness applications where the mate is not visible after installation.
