What This 16-Position Breakaway Header Does
The post length is 0.110" (2.79mm) — a standard solder-tail depth for single-sided boards or prototype builds. Tin is a workhorse choice for moderate-cycle applications — the 100 µinch thickness gives good corrosion resistance in controlled environments, though it won't match gold's endurance on repeated mate-unmate cycles.
The black color aids visual polarity checking during assembly.
If you need a keyed, polarized connection with a friction lock, the 1379030-3 is a 12-position, shrouded-4-wall header with board lock and mounting flange — same 0.100" pitch and tin plating, but the shroud prevents mis-mating and the lock adds vibration resistance. The trade-off: 12 circuits instead of 16, and the board footprint is wider due to the flange. For a non-locking, unshrouded, full-population 16-position line, the 9-103324-0-08 is the direct fit.
