Contact Plating and Termination for the Harness Designer
Tin is a workhorse choice for moderate mating cycles (50-100 cycles) in dry indoor environments — it won't gall like gold on tin, but it does require a minimum normal force to wipe through the oxide layer on first mate. The contact type is a rectangular tab made of copper alloy, terminated by through-hole solder. The contact length - post is 0.138" (3.50 mm), which is a standard length for a single-sided PCB up to 1.6 mm thick — the solder joint will fill the barrel and wick through the plated hole.
Mating Connector and Locking Feature
For a 6-circuit single-row application, the mating half is typically a 6-position receptacle with a latch ramp.
