Right-angle header for board-edge harness routing
The 9-966140-4 is a 9-position, 3-row header from TE's MCP series, pitched at 5.00 mm. It mounts through-hole, right-angle, so the pin tails sit perpendicular to the board — ideal for routing a harness along the board edge or into a mating receptacle that enters from the side. The housing is fully shrouded on four walls and carries a latch holder plus a mounting flange — the latch clicks to resist vibration back-out, and the flange gives a mechanical anchor for the cable strain. The glass-filled PA66 housing handles underhood thermal cycling.
At 5.00 mm mating pitch and 5.51 mm row spacing, this header occupies a wider board footprint — the trade-off is higher current capacity per contact on the tin-plated tabs. The post length is 3.00 mm, which sets the solder tail depth through the board.
Active production, no replacement watch
This is a tab-type header — mates with a receptacle that accepts rectangular male tabs. The latch holder and mounting flange together prevent the mated pair from separating under cable pull or vibration.
