Two Ports, One Body — What That Means for Panel Layout
Most BNC jacks in this series are single-port: the 031-5538-10RFX, 31-5431, and 31-5640-1010 each carry one port in a bulkhead body. The 031-70506 packs two ports into the same panel footprint — one cutout, two coax connections. That halves the panel drilling and saves board edge real estate when you need two video inputs or outputs side by side. The trade-off is that the dual-body is wider than a single, so check the pitch between the two centre conductors against your board layout before committing.
Board Lock and Isolated Shell — Ground Loop Protection
The isolated feature tells you the shell is not electrically tied to the board ground plane — the shield path runs through the coax braid to the panel, not through the PCB. That matters in video installations where ground loops between equipment racks create hum bars on the picture; the isolated shell lets you break the ground loop at the connector.
