HDMI 1.4 Receptacle, 19 Contacts, Right-Angle SMD
The Amphenol FCI 10029449-101RLF is a 19-contact HDMI receptacle rated to the HDMI 1.4 specification. It is a shielded, right-angle surface-mount connector with gold-plated contacts, designed for board-edge mounting in equipment that requires a standard HDMI input port. The 0.5A per-contact current rating and 40V voltage rating are typical for HDMI signal lines — this is a signal interconnect, not a power delivery port. With 10,000 mating cycles, this connector is rated for far more insertions than a standard consumer HDMI port (typically 5,000 to 10,000 cycles). That makes it a good fit for test equipment, public-access terminals, or any application where the cable is frequently plugged and unplugged.
Mounting: Surface Mount or Through Hole?
The specification lists both Surface Mount and Through Hole as mounting types. This is a right-angle SMD connector — the signal pins are surface-mount solder tails, but the connector body includes through-hole alignment posts or board locks that engage with plated through-holes for mechanical retention. The reflow process handles the SMD pads; the through-hole features are for alignment and shear strength, not electrical connection. The board footprint must include both the SMD pads and the corresponding through-hole holes for the alignment posts.
HDMI 2.0 Compatibility
This connector is specified to HDMI 1.4. HDMI 2.0 uses the same 19-pin physical interface and the same receptacle form factor, so a 1.4-rated receptacle will mechanically accept an HDMI 2.0 plug. However, the signal integrity and high-speed performance of the connector itself may not be characterized or guaranteed for the higher data rates of HDMI 2.0 (18 Gbps vs 10.2 Gbps for 1.4). For a design targeting HDMI 2.0 compliance, a connector explicitly rated for HDMI 2.0 is recommended.
