14-Pin Cuttable Header — What It Saves You on the BOM
The cuttable design means you can break the strip to a custom position count. The gold flash (1.00µin) on the mating face is enough for occasional mating in clean environments — think test fixtures, programming jigs, or internal board interconnects that don't see frequent reconnection. Through-hole termination gives the solder joint more mechanical strength than an SMT version would, which matters when the header is cut and handled during assembly. The 0.090" (2.29mm) post length is standard for a 1.6mm PCB — the solder tail protrudes enough for a reliable fillet without bottoming out on the solder wave.
Cuttable Construction — One Strip, Multiple Position Counts
The header ships as a 14-position strip in bulk packaging. Each position is a separate molded segment with a break-away notch between them. This gives you access for probing or manual wiring, but offers less physical protection than a shrouded header. In a board-to-board stack, the mating receptacle's housing typically provides the pin protection.
