JST KR Series IDC Socket, 10 Positions, 2.00 mm Pitch
The JST 10KR-6H-P is a 10-position IDC socket from the KR series, terminated to discrete 26 AWG wire via insulation displacement. The single-row layout and free-hanging in-line mount mean this socket lands in a cable assembly, not soldered to a board; the mating header carries the PCB-side connection. Tin-plated female contacts are standard for this series — adequate for the mating cycle count of a typical harness that sees infrequent disconnect. The gray housing is the KR series colour code; no keying or polarization feature beyond the housing geometry itself.
IDC Termination and Wire Preparation
Termination is insulation displacement — no stripping, no crimping. The 26 AWG discrete wire is pressed into the IDC slot; the contact tines pierce the insulation and grip the conductor. The tooling is a simple hand press or pneumatic applicator; the wire must be round, solid or stranded, and within the 26 AWG diameter range. The IDC joint is gas-tight at the tine-conductor interface, but tin-plated contacts limit the re-termination cycle count compared to gold.
