What This Connector Is — JST XSR 22XSR-36S
The JST XSR 22XSR-36S is a 22-position, single-row IDC receptacle with 0.60 mm pitch, terminating 36 AWG discrete wire. The housing is natural (uncolored), with a closed end that blocks wire push-through and an integrated strain relief that protects the IDC termination from cable flex. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting suits it for loose wire runs inside a device chassis, not for panel or board mounting.
The strain relief is molded into the housing; it holds the cable jacket and keeps the IDC junction from seeing flex stress.
Position Count vs. Siblings — 22XSR-36S vs. 20XSR-36S
The 22XSR-36S carries 22 positions, compared to the 20 positions of the 20XSR-36S. Same 0.60 mm pitch, same 36 AWG wire, same IDC termination and tin plating. The decision between them is purely circuit count — match the BOM position count exactly. No difference in current handling or environmental rating; the extra two positions just add two more signal paths in the same connector footprint.
