QMA Right-Angle Plug for RG-174/188/316 Coax
The 1408336-1: The QMA interface is the snap-on, push-lock variant of the SMA standard — it mates without a coupling nut, letting you make and break connections in tight enclosures or rack-mounted panels where a wrench won't fit. Dielectric is PTFE, giving stable phase performance across the -40°C to 80°C operating range. The nickel-plated brass body mates with any standard QMA jack (female) and locks with an audible snap — no torque specification, no tool required.
Cable Prep and Termination
This plug accepts RG-174, RG-188, and RG-316 — the three most common 50 Ohm flexible coax types with a solid or stranded centre conductor around 0.5 mm diameter. The centre pin is soldered; the braid and jacket are captured by the crimp ferrule. The right-angle body adds a 90° bend in the cable exit, which changes the cable routing plane — factor that into the harness bend radius and strain relief. Rated for 100 mating cycles — that is moderate durability, typical for QMA snap-on interfaces. The gold-plated centre contact handles the wear; the nickel shell resists corrosion. For a one-time install where the cable is routed and the connector stays mated, the cycle life is fine. If this sits on a test port that gets mated and unmated daily, expect the snap retention to soften after about 50 cycles.
