6 positions at 5.08 mm pitch — board-fit and power capacity
The 1744037-6 is a through-hole header from TE's Economy Power series, delivering 6 circuits on a 0.200" (5.08 mm) pitch in a single row. Tin is a workhorse finish for moderate-cycle applications — expect a few dozen mating cycles before wear becomes visible.
Partial shroud and friction lock — guided mate, not a full enclosure
The header has a 1-wall shroud (insulation height 0.126" / 3.20 mm) that guides the mating receptacle from one side but leaves the opposite side of the pins exposed. This is enough to prevent a reversed plug insertion, but it is not a full box header — the contacts are visible on the open side. Retention is via a friction lock built into the shroud wall. It holds the mated pair against casual vibration or cable tug, but it is not a positive latch — if the application sees continuous shock, consider adding a cable tie or clamp.
Rated 7.5 A, 250 VAC — derate above 25°C ambient
Current rating is 7.5 A per contact at 25°C ambient. Above 25°C, the current must be derated per the standard curve — at 85°C ambient, expect roughly half the rated current.
