Sizing the board footprint
The 1744037-7 is a single-row, 7-position header on a 0.200" (5.08mm) pitch — the standard spacing for Economy Power wire-to-board applications. That 5.08mm pitch gives you room for 20-24 AWG crimp terminals without crowding the board trace.
Locking and shrouding for vibration
The single-wall shroud protects the pins from one side; the opposite side stays open for wire exit. Compared to a fully shrouded header, this 1-wall design saves board space and gives the harness builder a visual alignment cue during mating. The trade-off is reduced pin protection on the open side — fine for enclosed equipment, less ideal for open-frame assemblies.
