Board-Edge Ethernet Jack for Cat5 Runs
The TE Connectivity 5569450-1 is a right-angle through-hole modular jack, 8p8c (RJ45, Ethernet) configuration, designed for unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable termination. Its Cat5 rating means the jack is qualified for 100 MHz base-T Ethernet — the most common office and industrial LAN speed. Through-hole mounting rather than SMT gives the solder joints the mechanical strength to handle repeated plug insertion and cable strain without lifting pads.
Unshielded — When to Use It
With no metal shell, this jack relies on the twisted-pair geometry of the cable for noise rejection. It is the right choice when the cable plant is UTP and the enclosure itself provides EMI shielding, or when the run is short enough that crosstalk margins are comfortable. The absence of a shield also means no grounding tab to route on the PCB — one fewer signal-integrity variable to manage at layout.
Dual-Port, Two-Row Arrangement
This is a 2-port, 2-row jack — two RJ45 receptacles stacked vertically, each with its own 8p8c contact set. The tab direction is up and down, meaning the latch on a plugged-in RJ45 connector faces away from the board on the top port and toward the board on the bottom port.
