75 Ohm HD-BNC for Broadcast and Video Infrastructure
Rated to 4.5 GHz, it covers standard-definition through 3G-SDI signal rates with margin. The HD-BNC form factor packs the same bayonet-lock interface into a denser footprint than standard BNC — useful when populating high-port-count patch panels or router backplanes.
Construction and Signal Path
The brass body carries a gold finish, which gives a corrosion-resistant mating surface and consistent shield continuity through the bayonet lock. Shield termination is solder, not crimp — the shield connection is made by soldering the braid to the body, which is standard for panel-mount receptacles where the cable is terminated to a separate plug.
The PTFE dielectric maintains stable impedance across this range. Voltage rating of 335 V is higher than typical 75 Ohm BNCs — the PTFE and the air-gap design in the HD-BNC interface provide extra creepage for equipment where voltage transients occur on the coax shield.
Comparison with 034-1140-12G
The 034-1140-12G is the higher-frequency sibling in the same HD-BNC series — rated to 18 GHz versus 4.5 GHz for the 034-1024. Both share the 75 Ohm impedance, bayonet lock, and beryllium copper centre contact. The 034-1140-12G uses a bulkhead-front-side-nut mounting for panel feed-through, while the 034-1024 is a through-hole PCB mount. For a 3G-SDI or HD-SDI broadcast router board, the 034-1024's 4.5 GHz ceiling is sufficient; the 18 GHz variant is needed only for 12G-SDI or higher-rate serial links.
