HD BNC Plug for RG-Type Cables — 50 Ohm, 6 GHz
The 034-5008: The HD (High Density) BNC interface is dimensionally different from standard BNC — it mates only with HD BNC jacks and receptacles, not with standard BNC hardware. Frequency response goes to 6 GHz, which covers L-band, S-band, and most of C-band for instrumentation and telecom. The kit ships as three pieces: the connector body with the centre contact pre-installed, a separate gold-plated phosphor bronze contact (the centre pin), and a nickel-plated brass ferrule. Shield termination is crimp, not solder, which gives a consistent, repeatable termination for the braid without cold joints.
This plug accepts RG-174, RG-188, RG-188A, RG-316, LMR-100, and M17/119-RG174 — all roughly 0.100-inch diameter coax with a solid or stranded centre conductor. The centre pin is soldered to the conductor, so you need a soldering iron and flux. The braid and jacket are trimmed per the manufacturer's strip dimensions, then the ferrule is crimped over the braid with a hex crimp tool sized for the cable OD. A standard RG-174 crimp die works for most cables in the group. The brass body with nickel finish is standard for BNC connectors — the nickel provides a hard, solderable surface that resists scuffing during repeated bayonet engagement.
HD BNC vs Standard BNC — What's Different
The HD BNC interface uses a smaller shell diameter and a different keying geometry than standard BNC. A standard BNC jack will not accept this plug, and vice versa.
