40-Position FPC Connector with ZIF Slide Lock
It uses a zero-insertion-force (ZIF) slide-lock actuator — the FPC is inserted with the actuator open, then the slide lock is closed to clamp the contacts against the FPC pads. This eliminates insertion force on the FPC and prevents pad damage during assembly. The connector is a right-angle surface-mount device, sitting 2.00 mm above the board. The bottom-contact configuration means the FPC's conductive pads must face downward when inserted. The housing is beige LCP, halogen-free, rated UL94 V-0; the actuator is black thermoplastic, also halogen-free. The gold-flash contact finish (2.00 µin) and phosphor bronze spring material support 20 mating cycles. That cycle count is low; design for one-time or infrequent mating, such as a factory-calibration or test-point connection.
FPC Thickness and Cable End Requirements
The cable end type is specified as tapered — the FPC insertion end should have a chamfer or taper to ease entry into the contact area and prevent stubbing against the contact beams.
SMT Assembly and Packaging
Termination is solder — the connector is designed for reflow soldering. Tape & Reel is the standard for automated pick-and-place assembly; Cut Tape is available for prototype or low-volume builds.
It is RoHS compliant.
