The 72309-8044BLF is shielded; the 72309-8014BLF is unshielded. Everything else — 8 contacts, 2 ports, USB 2.0, 1.5 A per contact, 1500 mating cycles, gold GXT™ plating, board lock, white insulator, tube packaging — is identical. The shielded version adds a copper alloy shell that bleeds EMI to the PCB ground plane, which matters if the USB ports are on a board edge near other noisy I/O or if the product must pass radiated emissions testing.
