SMA Plug for RG-179/188/316 — 50 Ohm, DC to 12.4 GHz
The Amphenol RF 901-9511-12SF is an SMA plug, male pin, designed for field termination onto RG-179, RG-188, RG-316 double braid, and M17/152-RD316 cable. The 50 Ohm impedance and 12.4 GHz max frequency place it in the standard SMA band — good for Wi-Fi, ISM, GPS, and L-band through X-band links. The kit ships as four pieces: the connector body, the centre contact, the ferrule, and a heat shrink sleeve, so the BOM line covers everything for one termination.
This plug is built for RG-179, RG-188, and RG-316 double braid coax — the three most common small-diameter 50 Ohm cables for short RF jumpers and pigtails. It also accepts M17/152-RD316, the military-spec equivalent of RG-316. The heat shrink slides over the crimp area for strain relief and environmental sealing. That combination — solder centre, crimp braid, heat shrink boot — is the standard field-reliable method for SMA terminations on double-braid cable.
