The Amphenol RF 901-9871 is a 50 Ohm SMA plug, male pin, terminated for RG-55, 142, 223, and 400 cable groups. Rated to 12.4 GHz maximum frequency, this is an SMA that stops short of the full DC-18 GHz SMA band — sized for applications that need the SMA interface but don't require the top octave.
Cable Prep and Termination Sequence
The included ferrule is sized for the listed cable groups; using a different cable diameter will change the crimp compression and may shift the impedance or pull the centre conductor out of the pin's solder cup. Stick to RG-55, 142, 223, or 400 for a proper fit.
Mating and Fastening
The threaded fastening provides a vibration-resistant connection; the 500-cycle rating means the gold plating on the centre contact and body will hold up to repeated engagement in test fixtures or portable equipment without fretting corrosion. No special tooling beyond a crimp tool and a soldering iron is needed for field assembly.
