Why the full detent and 100-cycle rating matter for field service
The SMP-MSFD-CSB: The full-detent mechanism provides a firm axial hold once mated, but it also increases insertion and extraction force compared to smooth-bore or limited-detent SMP connectors. The 100 mating-cycle rating reflects that wear — the detent spring and gold plating on the centre contact are the limiting surfaces. For comparison, the smooth-bore sibling SMP-MSSB-PCS15T is rated 1000 cycles, and the limited-detent SMP-MSLD-PCS18T is rated 500 cycles. If your application requires frequent disconnect and reconnect in the field, one of those lower-retention alternatives will last longer. The full detent is the right choice when vibration or cable strain demands a positive lock that a snap-on alone doesn't guarantee.
That part also comes in tape-and-reel packaging. For a threaded bulkhead fit at 26.5 GHz, this is the variant to specify.
