What the 12 GHz and 500-Cycle Ratings Mean on the Bench
The SMP-MSLD-PCS11T: The 12 GHz max frequency isn't a suggestion — it's the upper bound where the connector maintains a controlled 50 Ohm impedance through the interface. Below that, you get a clean signal launch into the PCB trace. The limited detent feature means the snap-on force is moderate — enough to hold under vibration but not so stiff that it's a struggle to unmate in a tight enclosure.
SMT Termination and Board Layout Considerations
This is a surface-mount part, so it goes through reflow with the rest of the board. The shield termination is solder — the ground pads on the PCB footprint carry the return current and anchor the connector body. The centre contact also solders to the board; the RF trace impedance needs to match the 50 Ohm connector launch to avoid a reflection at the junction. The gold body finish doesn't hurt solderability either.
