5-position plug housing for JST PA series — what to order alongside it
The JST PALR-05V is a 5-circuit plug housing from the PA series, built for wire-to-board interconnects on a 0.079" (2.00mm) pitch. The critical note on this line: contacts are not included. The crimp termination means you'll need the correct hand tool or press for the PA-series pin, and the wire gauge range is set by the terminal, not the housing. Ordering the housing alone and forgetting the terminals is the most common BOM miss on this part.
The PALR series runs from 4 to 6 positions at the same 2.00mm pitch and single-row layout. The PALR-04V gives you 4 circuits; the PALR-06V gives you 6. If your BOM calls for 5 circuits, the PALR-05V is the exact match — no empty cavities to deal with, no risk of mis-mating a 4-position header into a 6-position housing.
Mating header and compatible contacts
The PALR-05V mates with a PA-series male pin header — typically the B5B-PH or similar 5-position, 2.00mm-pitch header from JST's PH or PA family. For contacts, the PA-series male pin crimp terminal (sold separately) is the one you need; it's a stamped-and-formed pin that crimps onto the wire and inserts into the housing cavity. No datasheet on the terminal gauge range here, but the PA series commonly accepts 22-28 AWG — verify against the terminal's own spec sheet before committing wire size.
