Board Fit and Wire-Side Mating
The solder posts are 0.157" (4.00 mm) long, which suits a typical 1.6 mm board with through-hole solder joints. Mating side contact length is 0.276" (7.00 mm) — that's the tab that enters the receptacle. The mounting flange on each end gives a secondary mechanical anchor to the board — the header can be screwed down in addition to the solder joints, which matters when the cable bundle applies leverage to the connector body.
