Single-Wire IDC Termination for 18 AWG
The closed-end slot acts as a positive stop — the wire bottoms out at a fixed depth, so the contact position is repeatable across assemblies. Tin-plated contacts handle the termination; the single-row, 1-position layout matches a discrete wire-to-board BOM line where only one circuit is needed.
Wiring and Assembly Fit
This connector accepts 18 AWG wire only — the IDC slot dimensions are sized for that gauge, so a different wire size will not seat correctly or may damage the contact tines. The closed-end feature prevents the wire from pushing through the back of the housing, which keeps the conductor fully captured under the contact beams. For production assembly, a hand-operated or pneumatic IDC press tool is typical — the right-angle orientation means the tool applies force perpendicular to the PCB plane.
