Dual Female Edge Connector — Press-Fit, Right-Angle, Active
The TE Connectivity 2170231-2 is a dual female edge connector designed for backplane daughtercard applications. It terminates via press-fit — no solder, rework-friendly, and suited for high-reliability assemblies where through-hole soldering is undesirable. Two rows of contacts with a dual readout — the connector reads both sides of the mating card edge. The black glass-filled polyester housing includes a board guide that aligns the card during insertion, reducing the chance of stubbing or bending contacts. This is the kind of detail that matters when the backplane is populated and you're sliding in a card blind.
Mounting and Termination — What Bolts In
Through-hole, right-angle mounting — the connector sits at the board edge and accepts a daughtercard perpendicular to the motherboard. Mates with a standard 0.063" thick dual-edge card; no special keying or alignment beyond the built-in board guide. The dual readout means the connector's contact beams wipe both sides of the card's edge pads. Single-sided cards will work but leave half the contacts unmated — match the card's pad layout to the connector's full row count for a complete circuit.
