The detent lock provides positive retention during mating — an audible click confirms full engagement, which matters in field-service or vibration-prone installations.
The crimp termination allows you to terminate discrete wires to the contacts before inserting them into the housing cavities.
Mating and Locking — Detent Lock for Field-Mated Assemblies
The detent lock on this receptacle housing engages with the corresponding latch on the AMPMODU Mod IV header. When you push the two halves together, the lock snaps into place with an audible click — you feel and hear the mate. This is useful in harness assembly where visual confirmation of full seating is hard to get. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting style means the housing floats in the harness rather than being board-mounted, so the lock takes the strain off the contacts during cable movement.
