What This Terminal Does in the Assembly
The TE Connectivity 640311-5 is a wire-to-board terminal from the Mini Amp-In series. It terminates a discrete wire directly into a plated-through hole on the PCB, locking into the board with a barb that resists pull-out forces. The tin-plated phosphor bronze contact suits cost-sensitive, moderate-duty applications where the mating half is also tin-plated.
Wire Range and PCB Fit
Accepts 18-22 AWG wire with an insulation diameter of 0.060 to 0.110 inch. The PCB hole must be drilled between 0.072 and 0.077 inch — the locking barb relies on that diameter range to bite into the barrel wall. Overall terminal length is 0.260 inch, so the tail protrudes through the board by about one board thickness on a standard 0.062-inch PCB.
