TNC Plug for LMR-240 and Belden 9258
This plug is built for Belden 9258 and LMR-240 — two common 50 Ohm cables with similar dielectric diameters. The shield is crimped using the included ferrule; the centre conductor is soldered into the gold-plated brass pin. The crimp-on shield termination gives a consistent 50 Ohm transition through the connector body, and the solder joint on the centre pin handles the mechanical and electrical connection. For LMR-400 or other larger-diameter cables, this plug is not the right fit — the ferrule and centre contact dimensions are specific to the 9258/240 class.
RF Performance and Mechanical Life
The 11 GHz frequency ceiling and 0.18 dB insertion loss put this plug in the mid-band RF range — it covers cellular, ISM, and GPS bands with margin. The 500 V rating is a dielectric withstand spec, not a continuous power rating — at RF, the power handling is limited by the cable, not the connector.
