What the 26.5 GHz and 500-Cycle Ratings Mean
The 26.5 GHz maximum frequency means this connector passes signals cleanly through the full microwave band up to the lower edge of millimeter-wave — useful for radar, satellite comms, and high-speed data links. The 500 mating cycles is well above the 100–200 cycles typical of a basic SMA; the contact plating and body finish are built for repeated engagement without signal degradation. The 170 V voltage rating is standard for SMA and covers most RF power levels; the real limit is the power handling at frequency, which follows the standard SMA derating curve.
Board edge, end launch — the connector sits at the PCB edge with the signal pin aligned to the trace launch. Through-hole solder termination for the centre contact and shield — the shield is soldered directly to ground vias or a ground plane. The threaded coupling requires a mating SMA plug with a hex nut or knurled nut for tightening; torque to the standard SMA spec (typically 0.34–0.57 N·m) to maintain the 50 Ohm interface.
