It uses a rising cage clamp termination — the screw tightens a clamp that pulls the wire against a current bar, giving a gas-tight connection that doesn't cold-flow like a screw-under-washer.
Wire range and termination — what fits in the cage
The rising cage clamp accepts 12 to 30 AWG — solid or stranded — with a torque spec of 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) on the M3 screw. That torque is enough to pull the clamp tight on a 12 AWG power feed without stripping the brass-nickel screw. The clamp material is brass with nickel plating, and the contact surface is brass with tin plating — tin is fine for the static connection inside a terminal block, where you're not mating and unmating repeatedly.
Ganging multiple blocks with the interlocking side feature
The side interlocking feature lets you snap multiple 1-796682-0 blocks together to build a multi-pole assembly without a separate end barrier. This is useful when you need, say, 20 or 30 positions on a single PCB — you order two or three of these 10-position blocks and they lock together side-by-side, sharing the same pitch and board layout. The interlock is mechanical only; each block still carries its own 17.5 A per circuit independently.
