Between-Series RF Adapter: SMPM to U.FL
The TE Connectivity 2408021-1 is a between-series coaxial adapter that converts an SMPM plug interface to a U.FL (UMCC) jack, male pin. It belongs to the Blind-Mate Coaxial series and is designed for panel-mount applications with a flange. The adapter carries a 50 Ohm impedance and is rated to 9 GHz maximum frequency, making it suitable for test setups, antenna feeds, or board-level interconnects where a transition between these two miniature RF connector families is needed.
Construction and Materials
The body is machined from stainless steel, with a beryllium copper centre contact plated in gold. The dielectric is PTFE. The straight body style uses a combination of push-pull on the SMPM side and threaded fastening on the U.FL side. Rated for 500 mating cycles, the gold-over-beryllium copper contact pair handles repeated connect-disconnect duty without significant signal degradation.
Environmental and Mechanical Ratings
The panel-mount flange provides mechanical retention and strain relief for the cable assembly. The 500-cycle mating life is typical for a precision RF adapter — the gold plating on the centre contact resists fretting corrosion through the rated cycle count.
