MTA-100 IDC Receptacle, 5-Position, 0.100" Pitch — Gold Contacts, Locking Ramp
The TE 3-644042-5 is a 5-position, single-row MTA-100 receptacle that terminates discrete or ribbon cable via IDC (insulation displacement) at 22 AWG. The 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch matches the standard MTA-100 header footprint — the same pitch used across the series for board-to-wire and wire-to-wire harnesses. The closed-end design blocks the last cavity, preventing mis-insertion of a pin at position 6. The housing is red, a colour commonly used in the MTA-100 line for visual identification of wire gauge or circuit function on the harness.
Termination and Wire — IDC for 22 AWG Only
This connector terminates 22 AWG discrete or ribbon cable using the IDC slot in each contact. The specified wire gauge is 22 AWG; using a different gauge risks incomplete displacement or poor retention. For ribbon cable, the 0.100" pitch aligns with standard rainbow ribbon, and the closed end ensures the cable is oriented correctly.
